Nice path along the Glatt!

Comming from Uster, if you need to go towards Oerlikon, this bikepath is just awesome! It enables you to reach the train station with almost no cars. Sadly it isn't covered with concrete, meaning that road bikes are a no go, but still a great alternative for any other bike.

For the gravel-averse (like me), route 29 on your map is quite a nice alternative, although with some extra km and altitude.

On a side note: There were plans to build a paved bikeway along the Glatt, separated from pedestrians, which would have a path on the other side of the river. Unfortunately, the bike-project became a conservation-project somewhere along the way and now it looks as if there will be just a 4 m unpaved track for everybody, bikers and pedestrians.

That sucks...
It would be really amazing to pave it, so that we can also use road bikes, and also eat a bit less dirt when raining. Also, I am sure that pedestrian would be very happy, as this route is heavily used by bikes.

Wait till it rains for a couple of days, then you'll have to kayak some parts of this route. ;)

I take it every day, under rain and good weather. Of course, you get dirty, but kayaking is quite exaggerated ;)

No, it isn't, really. There are parts (for example beneath of that path that are flooded when the Glatt carries high water. It doesn't happen often, but it does. And it's a bit eery to drive the path when it's covered with 10 cm of water, when you can't see where exactly the bikepath ends and the river begins.
However, once you're used to it, it's quite fun, too. ;)

(you are scaring people off there ;) )
I (sadly) never had that much water there...
However, that should happen quite often with the Chriesbach, since there are also signs about the flooding danger.
